A bittersweet announcement today! A happy retirement AND congratulations!
Wake County Board of Elections Director Gary Sims is saying goodbye after 34+ years in government, 24 of those in elections. He oversaw the biggest election in American history in the most-populous county in our state...during a global pandemic...and it was an unprecedented success. We hate to see him leave #TeamWake, but his retirement is certainly well-earned.
He and Deputy Director Olivia McCall have built an incredible elections team together and we're happy to announce she will be stepping into his shoes at the beginning of June!
